Regional immigration bureaus and district immigration offices set up new service counters that provide entry and stay for foreign nationals-related services during lunch break

To meet strong requests and provide more people-friendly civil services, the immigration bureau set up new service counters that provide entry and stay for foreign nationals-related services during lunch break (12:00 to 13:00) on November 1, 2005. These service counters was established at regional immigration bureaus and their district immigration offices (except for Narita Airport, Chubu Airport and Kansai Airport District Immigration Offices) in order to accept application forms, grant permit stamps and deliver permit certificates.

Since immigration staff will handle these immigration-related duties by rotation, we would be grateful if you could corporate and keep in mind the following.

  •   Some service counters at regional immigration bureaus or district immigration offices do not handle some of immigration-related procedures during lunch break.
  •   In principle, branch offices do not have service counters that provide these services during lunch break.

For more information, refer to your nearest regional immigration bureau.
