Notification of the domicile of a special permanent resident

Procedures for notification of a domicile with regard to special permanent residents shall be categorized into the following two.

In either of these procedures, a notification shall be made at a municipality where the relevant person's domicile is located.

1 Procedures for notification of a domicile when deciding a domicile

A special permanent resident who possesses a special permanent resident certificate without the statement of a domicile must notify his/her domicile to the Minister of Justice at an office of the municipality where the said domicile is located, while bringing his/her special permanent resident certificate, within 14 days from the day on which he/she decided the domicile.

When such special permanent resident has presented his/her special permanent resident certificate and has filed his/her moving-in notification under the Basic Resident Registration System, such moving-in notification shall be deemed to be a notification of a domicile.

2 Procedures for notification of a change of a domicile

A special permanent resident who has changed his/her domicile must notify his/her new domicile to Minister of Justice at an office of the municipality where the said new domicile is located, while bringing his/her special permanent resident certificate, within 14 days from the day on which he/she changed his/her domicile.

When such special permanent resident has presented his/her special permanent resident certificate and has filed his/her moving-in notification under the Basic Resident Registration System, such notification shall be deemed to be a notification of a domicile.
