Entry Procedures ＜Requirements for foreigners entering Japan (Article 3 of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act)＞
Foreigners must have a valid passport to enter Japanese territory. However, crew members or foreigners who will be crew members in Japan that have a valid crew member’s pocket ledger may enter Japan without a valid passport.
Those intending to enter Japan without receiving landing permission or a landing permission seal of verification from an immigration inspector cannot enter the country.
Those who have entered the country in violation of these matters will be forced to leave under the stipulations of Article 24, item 1 of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act and will be subject to criminal punishment under the stipulations of Article 70, paragraph 1, item 1 of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.
